How we handle Age in System
Hello!
Thank you for visiting this page, it genuinely means alot to me that you want to be respectful like this.
SO before anything we need to talk about how we handle age in art and so on, which I get can be scary because many people read "Proshipper" and assume the worst.
Which is a good thing, there needs to be a healthy amount of suspicion on the internet.
We personally treat the internet and everyone regardless of gender how many straight women have describe handling men.
We understand that not everyone is bad, we understand there are grey areas but we have our guard up until you show us you're safe and that safety is unique to us and our experiences.
That mentality has saved our life on many occasions, so I do not blame you.
The difference is we don't let that suspicion scare us because we know we can survive it, which allows us to interact with everyone with the same level of respect and dignity till we personally see the level of respect and dignity given back to us.
Now when it comes to age and respecting age within a system can be incredibly hard. Alters don't always age normally and some don't even have ages, just a feeling on a label of adult or child.
Some change their age all the time and some blink and become an adult.
Which can feel really scary if they want to explore their identity and their sexuality.
Which we can't avoid because sexuality is a huge part of a persons identity and understanding that identity. Our goal as a system is to make a safe place to explore that and actively heal from what happened to us.
This article explains it really well and I recommend reading it: Alter Ages by DID-Research.org
So this is how we're handling it.
We are not going by literal age present in the system but by how the alter and the system physically see and feel about the alter.
If the alter feels they are an adult we will label them as an adult, regardless of size and form.
Dara is an example, he shapeshifts but mentally he is an adult so we treat him as an adult.
If the system see's them as a child, they are a child and will be treated as a child and thus any NSFW art of them will be seen as a violation of boundaries and will lead to an immediate block on all socials and future Discord servers. Essentially you blacklisted for life.
If the child turns into an adult and the alter agrees to NSFW content(Because not all of them want NSFW art of them), their profile will be labeled accordingly and will we have a lil celebration for their growth. A Little growing like that is a good thing, we see it as them moving on from an old job or trauma that required them to be a child to accomplish that job.
If they are an age-slider it will be heavily based on what age they see themselves in the moment. To be safe we will say no NSFW art but if there's a slip up with specifically these ones we won't block you, we will give a friendly DM telling you about the alter and discuss boundaries moving forward.
How you react will determine if we block you or not.
Age sliders will be labeled as age-sliders and given a warning that they may not always be an adult.
The rules above are not seen as aging up anyone, though we may draw what an adult form looks like it won't be sexual. Things like adult artistic nudes may happen. It is not intended to be sexual and is purely done to help them figure out their sense of identity and autonomy.
Us drawing an adult form of a Little is not permission to draw porn of that Little and will be treated as a violation of boundaries.
Porn being them participating in sexual acts or being displayed in a sexual manor. If it's like a renaissance painting of nudity then that is acceptable because there is a difference between beauty of the nude form and sexualization of the nude form.
Both are art but both have very different boundaries that need to be respected.
If you find both sexual that is a reflection of internalized objectification of the body and that makes us uncomfy.
If you look at any nude form and immediately think "sex" we find that dehumanizing and a form of sexual objectification.
Being nude is not an invite for sex.
Being nude is not permission to flirt or treat someone as sexual.
Being nude is not consent in any form.
A person regardless of size, age or gender is not just a thing for sex.
Yes many of us are sexual and enjoy sex and sexual spaces.
But it should be done with adults 18+ is safe adult spaces where someone's "no" is respected.
Us putting up these boundaries is us establishing the systems autonomy and protecting the vulnerable parts of ourselves.
When it comes to OCs the rules are much the same but the thing is our system treats adoptable/OCs as potential skins for alters. Which is why we like buying the full rights to an adopt so the alter doesn't have to worry.
Now we have no intention to sell anything beyond adopts but we do it out of respect for the artists.
Adopts and OCs feel safe, they are a comfort and alters want that safety and may embody it as a source to help ground themselves.
Because of this we ask for adopts we specifically bought and OCs to have no NSFW art of them until the brain has figured out what it wants to do with that design.
When it comes to the art of another person we don't like to immediately jump to conclusions and just block people.
What we do is that everyone is on a neutral level of suspicion till we get to know them and then we figure out for ourselves if we want that person in our lives.
We ask does this person enrich our life or make it worse? Then go off that.
So you could draw the worst most horrible art in the world but if you are a sweet cinnamon roll you are welcome.
We call this the Junji Ito Effect, where he draws the most weird disturbing thought-provoking art but the man is just a bundle of sweetness and wholesome.
People are weird like that, the art doesn't always show how bright a person is and often people have weird ways to express pain and beauty. I want to respect that expression no matter what because art isn't meant to be comfortable, it is meant to be a reflection of the human condition for better or for worse.
What matters to me is how you treat us. How you treat our vulnerability, how you treat our pain.
We are by no means a good person, we've done many horrible things to survive and I want you guys to learn and be better than us.
But I don't want to punish anyone for desperately trying to survive and live.
It took us so long to want to live, that urge is so precious to us that punishing that drive feels cruel.
